Nicollet Tower

Nicollet Tower

Views of the surrounding "Couteau Des Prairies," or Hills of the Prairie, can be enjoyed from the top of the 75-foot Nicollet Tower west of Sisseton. The tower and adjoining Interpretive Center were named for mapmaker Joseph Nicollet, a Frenchman who was befriended by Sisseton-Wahpeton people in 1839. The center houses an enlarged replica of the map created by Nicollet with the help of his American Indian friends.
