Ancient fossils still lie hidden in the bold and bronzen buttes of Badlands National Park, a protected wilderness penetrated by hiking and biking trails.
See some of the largest Joshua trees, junipers and pinyon pines in the park. Driving through the flats to Eureka Peak is 3.8 miles, but you can go considerably farther into the backcountry and start hikes from there.
