Description
The Willow Creek Bridge to Arroyo Seco Picnic Area stretch of Arroyo Seco River in Monterey County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V) section. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Willowcreek Bridge to Arroyo Seco Picnic Area section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nature scenery of Monterey County and the water flowing gracefully down Arroyo Seco River beats anything. Whitewater paddling here in the Santa Lucia Range is a great experience.
