Ancient fossils still lie hidden in the bold and bronzen buttes of Badlands National Park, a protected wilderness penetrated by hiking and biking trails.
This moderately used trail lies in the northern section of Indian Heaven Wilderness. The trail begins on the Pacific Crest Trail north of the junction with Cultus Creek Trail No. 108. It descends through semi-open areas to the edge of Wood Lake. The lake is at 4,860 feet elevation.
