Description
The Salmon River first becomes safely navigable as it nears the town of Stanley in Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Tumbling down from the central Idaho mountains to the south, the river turns east here and forms the north border of the recreation area. Rafting along these gentle stretches is a popular family activity for visitors to the area. Trips ranging in duration from one hour to a full day are available.
