Ancient fossils still lie hidden in the bold and bronzen buttes of Badlands National Park, a protected wilderness penetrated by hiking and biking trails.
Horsetooth Mountain is a great choice for mountain bikers looking for a workout. The trails in this area link in numerous ways, giving riders the ability to create an ideal day ride.
Horsetooth Mountain trails wind around Horsetooth Reservoir within the 2711 acre Horsetooth Mountain open-space park. Riders at Horsetooth Mountain can choose from trails that offer technical downhills and steep, powerful climbing or they can keep their riding selection more mellow; there is enough variety here to please almost every rider.
Many of the trails in the Horsetooth Mountain system are one way riding and the majority are easily accessed by the dirt service road that begins by the main parking area. Riding with a map of the Horsetooth Mountain area is highly suggested and maps can be picked up in the town of Ft. Collins at any bike shop.
