Ancient fossils still lie hidden in the bold and bronzen buttes of Badlands National Park, a protected wilderness penetrated by hiking and biking trails.
This trail leads to Willis Lake and a mine just beyond the lake. The trailhead is shared with Little Willis Gulch Trail with hiking access to Hope Pass. The first part of the trail is very steep.

Basic Directions
Twin Lakes is south of Leadville on Highway 82. The trailhead is 2 miles west of Twin Lakes Village. Look for a parking lot off to the left (south). The trail is accessed south across the bridge over Lake Creek. Follow the road to the trail on the left side.
